SAHADEWA stage Chandra Budaya
(Bali Gianyar 80582)
for the most dramatic KECAK DANCE
About Kecak Dance (Click Here)
The story of Kecak Dance (Click Here)
Taken from the Hindu epic Ramayana, the dance tells the story of Prince Rama and his rescue of Princess Sita, who has been kidnapped by the evil King of Lanka. Unlike other dances, there is no gamelan orchestra accompanying it. Instead, a troupe of over 150 bare-chested men serve as the chorus, making a wondrous cacophany of synchronized "chak-achak-achak" clicking sounds while swaying their bodies and waving their hands.

We arrived there quite early, therefore we can have the seats in front.
I didn't expect much people for this show, but end up around 400-500 people watching the famous Kecak Dance.

After the Kecak dance,

Picture 3: He kicks the flame
Picture 4: He sits on the flame
For your information, he is bare footing.
I do believe that some kind of God enter his body.
Having worked himself into a trance for the performance,
it takes a while for the dance to come back down.
NOTE the ash on his feet.

I even laugh madly during the show
while everyone is so tense up looking at the trance dance.
