Peter Berg produces and directs Battleship, an epic-scaled action-adventure that unfolds across the seas, in the skies and over land as our planet fights for survival against a superior force. PERSONAL COMMENT

Computer Graphics
I can't deny that the graphics are top notch. The moment the screen plays I told my girlfriend, wow! The quality of the film running and the graphics are very clear that I thought its 2D or something better!
I get amazed when the alien's battleship came out.

The alien's suit is pretty cool, not really special but it will be something like Iron Man?
By the way, it's kinda interesting how the CG players draw out the alien. You will get to see their face.

Actor/Actress
Taylors Kitsch - Alex Hopper
Perform well with good expressions, doesn't seem fake to me. I should say he is experience!

Rihanna
This movie is definitely underused of Rihanna, eventually when you thought Rihanna is not gonna perform well in this movie, she did perform averagely, consider her expression, movement and dialogue.

Tadanobu Asano as Captain Nagata
great supporting role in this movie, funny scenes with him appearing.

Plots
There are lots of loopholes in this movie.
Remember how the U.S Navy found the first alien and start to take out their mask?
The next moment, 1 troop of aliens went into the U.S Navy battleship and took the alien away. Why can't the alien just kill all the U.S Navy at that moment? They knew the US Navy is harming their own allies.

Next, how the old-retired US Navy suddenly appear at a museum battleship, how they start the battleship in such a short time frame, how can a museum battleship still works?

More loopholes can be found at HERE

In case, you didn't notice, how they blend in the END of the story with
Brooklyn Decker contacting Taylors Kitsch - Alex Hopper where the aliens are using the satellite.

Action scenes are pretty good!
how the US Navy fight against the alien! See how the 2 round blades above, running the whole Hawaii, causing chaos, bridge breakdown, cars breakdown and etc.

Also take note on action scenes like, battleship shooting missiles.

Also it is interesting to see how the actors interact with each other, team up to fight the aliens.

I have to say that after reviewing all those action-Computer graphics movie, as long as it is entertaining, good graphics, able to let audience give your graphics (like Transformer and GI Joe) a WOW! That is enough to get back your return.
I really did enjoy the movie, how action-fied is this movie, how I like the CG graphics, see-ing how a battleship vs alien's battleship is entertaining!
Try this movie in IMax 2D, I think you will be amazed!

Oh yeah, 1 question here, did you guys hear about Malaysia is also one of the Navy teams? I remember Liam Neeson saying Japan, Malaysia, US and etc is part of the exhibition Navy crew.

PERSONAL RATING

Plot: 5/10
Graphics: 9.5/10
Dialogue: 5.5/10

Overall: 7/10
The review is based on my personal opinion.

Rise of The Planet of The Apes movie review

Date: 2 Aug 2011
Time: 9pm
Venue: GSC @ 1 utama

PLAYERS

Directed by: Rupert Wyatt
Produced by:Amanda Silver, Rick Jaffa, Peter Chernin, Dylan Clark
Written by: Amanda Silver, Rick Jaffa
Starring: James Franco, Freida Pinto, Andy Serkis, Tom Felton. David Hewlett, Chelah Horsdal

PLOT
Will Rodman (James Franco) is a scientist, currently residing in San Francisco, who is working on a cure for Alzheimer's Disease by performing tests on apes. The first test subject is a chimpanzee, named Caesar (Andy Serkis), whose parents had been captured in Africa.[5] Rodman's "cure" not only repairs brain cells as they expected to, but it genetically modifies Caesar's way of thinking to create a new breed of ape with human-like intelligence. Caesar learns unbelievably well, but human authority orders him to be locked up. However, he eventually proves to be smart enough to escape from his cage and releases an airborne-strain of the cure among thousands of other apes (the ones that are caged with him), making them as intelligent as Caesar. Thousands of apes begin to foment revolution. Soon, war breaks out between humans and apes. Rodman may be the only one able to stop them before the ape revolution ends with the apes succeeding, humanity being driven to extinction, and apes becoming the most dominant species on Earth.

Personal Comment (may contains spoiler, read at your own risk)
Computer Graphics
CGI apes created by Weta Digital from motion-capture performances.
Facial expression like angry, jealous, happy really looks alike like human. You will be focusing every single expression that the apes show especially from Caesar. That's the best element I can see from this movie.

Forget to mention that, all the CGI are produced by Weta Digital Company and they have won several Academy awards. Avatar movie are produced by them too, so this movie will be the improve version of motion capture technology used in Avatar.

Plot is alright only, climax doesn't seem excited as it is.
Caesar bringing the whole gang back to Redwood forest
However, the intelligence after the injection of drugs shown by the ape is impressive. He is able to do what a 8 years old children will do when he is just 2 years old. His IQ level increase significantly after consuming the drugs.

A loophole found in this movie would be after Caesar and his gang break out from the "prison", it looks like more than  hundred of them ran out of the prison, but in the prison there is like enough to only accommodate hundred of them.

The wow scene

It is also quite Emotion as Caesar would really wants to go back his owner Will Rodman but he decided not to mainly because he wants to save all the other apes lock in the "prison". Caesar cried after that.

Lastly, it is really touched watching the ape finally giving humanity

Do take note the Ending on a tease for a potential sequel. Yes, there will be next episode!

Personal Rating
Plot: 6/10
Action: 7/10
Effects: 8/10
Overall: 7/10

The Green Hornet movie review

 THE GREEN HORNET

PLAYERS
Directed by: Michel Gondry
Screenplay by: Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg
Produced by: Neal H. MoritzExecutive Producers: Michael Grillo ,Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, Ori Marmur, George W. Trendle, Jr.
Cast: Seth Rogen, Jay Chou and Cameron Diaz

PLOT
The Green Hornet centers on a Britt Reid (Rogen), a party boy and heir to a publishing empire. After the sudden death of his father, he along with his new companion Kato bond over a desire to rebel and end up becoming vigilante heroes. With the help of the newspaper and Reid’s secretary Lenore (Diaz) they work their way up the crime ladder until they reach the top dog, Chudnofsky (Waltz).

Personal Comments (may contains spoiler, read at your own risk)
The Green Hornet is an action comedy film.
Personally for me, comedy is well matched with the action elements in this movie, since most of the scenes are about Britt Reid by Seth Rogen) and Kato by Jay Chou.

I am pretty sure that it takes quite some time for Britt Reid (Rogen) and Kato (Jay Chou) to really have the chemistry bonding with each other, it's good to  see that the interactions work in this movie, and as I said that's where the majority of the film spent.
Expected Up's and down's of the movie, whereby two of them quarrel when they are facing some problems.

ACTION

This action part is where another success of this film.
Kato acted by Bruce Lee in the TV show is superb especially when he is an expert in the martial arts, so Jay Chou is still passable in most of the scenes.
Some of the stunning action scenes would be car chases and fist fight.

[Something interesting is that, they are driving the front part of the Black Beauty towards the end of movie.]

COMEDY
Sometimes I just feel unnecessary comedy's dialogue appears in between the interesting action part, guess that's where the part we just focus on the action part.
But yeah! Most of the dialogues between Britt Reid (Rogen) and Kato (Jay Chou) is really useful to show the comedy part.

Some of the interesting dialogues would be:
[Thinking of a title suitable for the headline of newspaper]
Rogen: Let's name it the GREEN BEE
All the staffs in meeting room: *keeps quiet, giving him a (=.='') face*
Kato: the Green Hornet
Rogen: the Green Hornet?
Staffs: yeah, that would be much better

(The Green Bee? sounds not hero at all)

I came across my friends blog, Carmen and I found this dialogues too.

Reid : What time is it?
Jay : 2
Reid : That's not so bad
Jay : Its Thursday
Reid : WHAT?!!! ITS NOT MONDAY?
Jay : Check out the Black Beauties.
Reid : Beauties?
Jay : Its for back up..
Reid : OMG, HOW THE HELL DID YOU DO ALL THESE IN FOUR DAYS!!!
Jay : 11 days
Reid : WHATTTTTTTTTT??????

[Eventually he blanked out on monday. And he woke up on Thursday. But it was actually already the following week, I were like wtf.]

BAD
For me, it doesn't really show any bonds between Lenore Case( Cameron Diaz) with Britt and Kato. It's merely a love interest between 3 of them.
She is the only part to drive the complication between Britt Reid (Rogen) and Kato (Jay Chou) .

Further more, Christoph Waltz role can be improve, he should be a stone cold killer instead of soft spoken evil guy.

so OVERALL, it's still a visual interesting movie, and 2 hours didn't seems to be real draggy and boring. It's also an entertaining movie, I am pretty sure you will enjoy it, and guess what, Jay Chou performance really improved.

Personal Rating:
Plot: (Can't determine as it is based on TV series)
Effects: 7/10
Comedy: 7.5/10
Action: 7/10
Overall: 7.5/10

Personal Comment (may contains spoiler, read at your own risk)
Don't expect much at the Plot-Storylines.
The plot disappointed me, as there are many loop holes. You feel kinda ridiculous, somehow you just have to accept it, as the script had more incommon with the video games.

Throw away all the loop holes and lets focus on the action part.

Looking at how Alice (Milla) kills the zombie is interesting! Watching all the flesh splitting around, blood spraying around in front of the screen and head get chopped off.
1 word to describe - AWESOME!
Besides that, the way she fight, run, jump around really impress me especially when everything slow down. Sort of like Matrix.
Milla Jovovich is a great actor, and I think she is a fantastic Alice.

Albert (Shawn Roberts) steals some our attention, he is the bad guy wanted to stop Alice, and he is fast.
The last part where Alice kills him in like less than 5mins? Nothing attracts me at all. Should have put more fighting between each other.
The 3D effects is great. "Fushion System Technology" that is used in Avatar really helps the effect.
After all I think this is the best 3D movie so far.
The sharpness/contrast of blades, knives, mirrors and etc is  great.
And most of the scenes are customized for 3D!
Examples below:
Some part, where everything slow down, you even get to see the bullet clearly shooting towards ourselves.

If you are a fans of zombie or Resident Evil games player, you will love this.
The Executioner
Dog splits the head

and lastly, wait for a while when the credits appear, because there is a surprise for you.
lets wait for another episodes of RE.

The Descent: Part 2 (movie review)

Thanks to Nuffnang for the invites to watch
The Descent Part 2
Date: 18 May 2010
Time: 9.30pm
Venue: Cathay @ Ecurve

In 2006, a British horror film called
The Descent was released in North America one year after its UK debut. It was a terrifying horror film, which scared people shitless as it took claustrophobia to a whole new level. Now 3 years later, they’ve once again released the sequel The Descent part 2 overseas .

Director : Jon Harris
Producers : Christian Colson, Ivanna Mackinnon & Neil Marshall (Executive Producer)
Writers : James Watkins, J. Blakeson and James McCarthy
Actors : Shauna MacDonald, Natalie Mendoza, Krysten Cummings, Joshua Dallas, Gavan O’Herlihy and Anna Skellern.

Plot :
The Descent: Part 2 picks up immediately after the events of the first film. Sarah (Shauna MacDonald) emerges alone from a cave system following an expedition with her five friends in the Appalachian Mountains. Distraught, injured and covered in the blood of her missing companions, she is incoherent and half-wild with fear. Skeptical about her account of the events and convinced that her psychosis hides far darker secrets, Sheriff Vaines forces her back into the caves to help locate the rest of the group. Trapped by falling rocks, the rescue party is driven deep into the caverns, and one by one the fate of the missing girls is revealed. Sarah struggles to stay alive and once again encounters the evil in the deep. However will she manage to escape back to the daylight?
Monster, are you afraid?
Human vs Monster
Her teeth is super shiny white. Darlie?
Personal Comment:
(SPOILER ALERT)
Bloody
This film is very gory and full with violence blood scene. But too bad, the blood seems a little fake, bright red color, which I don't think it is really disgusting to me. Head smashed, hands gone, fingers get nibbled and etc.

Not scary
It is predictable that the monsters jump in front of the camera, it is much less frightening.
It is quite frequent that the monster appear slowly, which makes the audience have a feeling of "no...no....no..don't shout"

If you are in a mood to watch terrifying movie with plenty of gore (blood scenes), this movie is still acceptable. But if you are those who loves getting horrified, I don't think you will enjoy.
*I did not watch the first part, so I can't compare part 2 with part 1*

Personal Rating:
Plot : 6/10
Violence : 8/10
Effect : 6.5/10
Terrifying : 7/10
Overall : 6/10

A Nightmare on Elm Street screening

Date: 11 May 2010
Time: 9pm
Venue: GSC @ Mid Valley
A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET
Starring : Jackie Earle Haley, Kyle Gallner, Rooney Mara, Katie Cassidy, Thomas Dekker and Kellan Lutz
Director : Samuel Bayer
Production : Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller
Screenwriter : Wesley Strick, Eric Heisserer and Wes Craven
Plot :
Freddy Krueger returns in A Nightmare on Elm Street, a contemporary re-imagining of the horror classic. A group of surburban teenagers share one common bond: they are all being stalked by Freddy Krueger, a horribly disfigured killer who hunts them in their dreams. As long as they stay awake, they can protect one another…but when they sleep. there is no escape.

Personal Comment :
I did not watch the previous one so I can't really compare this with the previous one.
But here are some comments I want to bring up.
Actor's acting
most of the actors did not really perform/act well to boost up this movie.
The 2 actors which I think is great are
Jackie Earle Haley act as Freddy Krueger
-he is suppose to be the main attraction, and yeah! he did act well, giving us a scarry Freedy.
and Rooney Mara acted as Nancy Thompson
Repeated dialogues like:"if you sleep, you will die in your dream.", makes me feel like the actor have nothing better to say?
Effects(blood scene)
the effect is quite real, blood scene is enough to horrify us, especially the first part.
Horrify
it is quite normal, that the background music is able to horrify us.
overall, it is still worth trying to watch this movie, if you are a fan of thrilling movie like me.

Personal Rating:
Plot --> 6/10
Horrify --> 7.5/10
Thrilling --> 7/10
Effect --> 7/10
Overall --> 7/10

Iron Man 2 movie review

Date: 30 April 2010
Time: 1pm
Venue: TGV @ Sunway Pyramid

Iron Man 2

Starring : Robert Downey, Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Scarlett Johansson, Sam Rockwell,Mickey Rourke, Samuel L. Jackson
Director : Jon Favreau
Screenwriter : Justin Theroux

Plot :
The world is aware that billionaire inventor Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) is the armored Super Hero Iron Man. Under pressure from the government, the press and the public to share his technology with the military, Tony is unwilling to divulge the secrets behind the Iron Man armor because he fears the information will slip into the wrong hands. With Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow), and James “Rhodey” Rhodes (Don Cheadle) at his side, Tony forges new alliances and confronts powerful new forces.

Personal Comment:
Overall is cool and exciting.
To be specific on few issues here,
Visual&Effect
able to attract our attention into the film even without the 3D, I have to say that the visual team had done a great job here.
The plot
you are not going to have the "WOW" experience compare to the first episode. I have to say that most of the movie is going to have this problem, but I have to say that overall was great but not excellent. Almost 50% to build up the movie and 20% action, personally I think that this is great, too much action will just tense up everyone.
Comedy
important elements in every movie to boost up the movie. It is strongly present by few actors such as Scarlet & Samuel.

Few actors help to boost up this movie.
Sam Rockwell
able to steal some scene performance, even though he is just an under rated actors.

Mickey Rourke

one of the important actor in this movie, he is able to intimidate everyone around him and done a great job to become the Evil.

Personal Rating:
Plot: 8/10
Visual & Effects: 7.5/10
Action: 7/10
Overall: 8/10
